General Cloning Options
When cloning work items, you have two primary options:
Quick Clone: Instantly create an exact 1:1 copy of the work item along with all its child items.
Clone in Background: Allow the cloning process to occur in the background while you close the dialog and proceed to your next task.
Quick Clone
For a straightforward 1:1 copy of the existing work item hierarchy, use the quick clone option. This feature clones the parent and all its child items without additional modifications, all in just a few clicks. Access this functionality by toggling the quick clone switch at the top.

Information Panel
Total Child Items: Displays the total number of child items.
Hierarchy Levels: Shows the hierarchy levels beneath the parent item, typically up to two levels (story and sub-task).
Cloning Process
Click the Clone button to duplicate the parent item and all its child items within the same project.
Note: If a specific item type is unavailable in the project, an error message will appear.
For further details on how the results appear, please refer to this page.
Attachments
Attachments are currently not duplicated with the quick clone. An option to clone attachments will be introduced in the future.
Clone in Background
Allows cloning to occur in the background, enabling you to continue with other tasks.
Just check the "clone in background" option for a more streamlined experience.

Benefits
Close Dialog: You can close the cloning dialog while the process continues.
Monitor Progress: Reopen the dialog to check ongoing background cloning processes.
Efficiency: No need to keep the app open during the entire cloning process.
Ideal for
Large Hierarchies: Useful for items with many child items where cloning is time-consuming.
Attachments: Beneficial when cloning items with attachments, as this takes longer.
Proven Structures: Suitable for frequently cloned item structures, reducing the need for constant monitoring.
This streamlined approach ensures you can manage your tasks efficiently while the cloning process runs in the background.
